Since Jeff and Jim became “partners” in buying, renting, holding, selling and trading single family homes (SFH) for TheMonopolyProject we have significantly increased our search activities. We’re looking for “The Perfect Monopoly” house. We completed the purchase of the house on 29th Avenue in Apache Junction on the 16th of February. We purchased for $246,000 on 2/16/2021. Currently the Zestimate® shows $263,982. Given today’s crazy market in Phoenix, we are sure we could get more than that. But we are not selling now. We are long term holders.

In our “What We’re Looking at This Month” post last month we said:

“But we are still digesting our last purchase. Our target is 1-2 houses per year, so we are not in a big hurry to buy NOW. Especially since the market the market is TOO crazy.

We are fine with sitting for now.”

That did not age well! No sooner than I wrote that that we bought another house, a new build in Coolidge.

I will refrain from any more predictions. Never say never.

We are on the sidelines now. The market is (still) crazy:

The popularity has spawned a new trend across the Valley, where people are buying properties and turning them into vacation rentals.  More on AirBnB later.

Metro Phoenix real estate is at the top of the hill, with no end in sight

With home prices going through the roof right now, it’s hard not to get flashbacks of what happened in 2008,

Here’s our current history on installing Starlink internet service to our cabin north of Payson. There is no landline service there. We are using HughesNet with marginal service. We did an initial setup and test of the service with excellent results:

I bought a Winegard DS-2000 mount and pole from Amazon. We decided to mount the Starlink on the existing chimney since it gives a clear view of the sky; doesn’t go into the roof itself; has proven to be wind resistant; and is a better work environment to do the mounting. We will put a mounting brace to add another path for the wind loads. Wind primarily blows from the cameraman viewpoint of the photo to the “back”. We will put the antenna in the wind shade of the chimney at the arrow below.
