I’ve been reading “FIRE” blogs for years. Wikipedia says “The FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) movement is a lifestyle movement whose goal is financial independence and retiring early.”

I already gave a shout out to JL Collins in my very first blog post.

Now my go-to FIRE guy is Sam at FinancialSamurai.com.

I started TheMonopolyProject because of Sam’s two posts; why and how to start a website/blog.

Thank you, Sam.

And Sam’s post was the basis for my choosing a WordPress based site. Currently WordPress is used by 55 % of websites:

In parallel to TheMonopolyProject.com, I have also been working on non-profit, research project on solitary bees. The blueorchardbeesinarizonaproject.com site was built solely by me using Wix. I purposely built one website on each to compare the two. The content on both sites is 100% by me or TheMonopolyProject team.

Wix vs WordPress— 6 Crucial Differences To Know

“To generalize, website builders like Wix are easier to use but less customizable. They also include hosting— so you don’t have to set up a web host— but that means you can’t ever move your website off of Wix and on to a new web host.

A CMS like WordPress has a steeper learning curve but is highly customizable. You need to setup WordPress on a web host— though that’s less intimidating than it sounds (there are plenty of hosts offering 1-click WordPress installation). WordPress is open-source, which means it’s free for anyone to use and modify (though hosting, themes and plugins can all cost money).”

Before we explain how we at TheMonopolyProject got such a tremendous website, here are some alternate ‘FIRE’ links: FIRE, FIRE (demonic?), FIRE, and the best FIRE.

So, how did we get such a great looking website for TheMonopolyProject? The content is all ours, but the esthetics and beauty of the site is all Chris von Nieda of ROI4my.com.
